A case study of the 2008 ICTP / Blantyre Polytechnic / Blantyre College of Medicine joint project to build a long distance WiFi network. The network connects Blantyre to Mangochi, spanning a distance of about 160 km.

Intro to RF and dB math

Slideshow presented at AfNOG 2009 in Cairo, Egypt.

It is a very quick introduction to the physical basis of telecommunications, many concepts are briefly introduced, like i.e.: e.m. waves (amplitude, frequency, ...), RF signals (power, modulation, ...), power measurement, spectrum analysis, dB (math, examples, Alexander Bell).
